  • Glamorous IFOY Award Night at the CeMAT in Hanover.

Hanover, 23.4.2018. The IFOY Award 2018 in the category "Counter Balanced Truck" goes to the new RX 20 of Still GmbH, Hamburg. The international jury selected the 1.6-ton truck, which was unveiled in January, as the best new counterbalanced truck. The cheering was overwhelming when Frank Dreeke, Chairman of the Executive Board at BLG Logistics Group revealed the traditionally well-kept secret of the winner at the CeMAT opening ceremony.

Counter Balanced Truck of the Year 2018

The jury's decision is based on the all-rounder's innovative complete package for indoor and outdoor use. "The Still RX 20 sets a new benchmark in the premium segment. It is fast on ramps, precise in handling, scores with an ergonomic workstation and the new drive module guarantees high handling rates. Providing a battery room for the optional use of lead-acid batteries with circuit A or B in a compact counterbalanced truck is also a remarkable technical achievement", the jury explained.

With a lifting height of 7.5 meters, the truck meets nearly all typical tasks, is perfectly suited for narrow aisles and is a sprinter with a top speed of 20 km/h. With the push of a button, the operator can choose between energy efficiency and maximum handling capacity. Speed, acceleration and electrical braking behavior can also be set as required in each travel program.

The truck was extremely quiet and easy to operate during the IFOY Test. Despite its compact dimensions, the workplace is spacious and the view through and along the mast, as well as the all-round view is excellent. The newly developed display and control unit Still EASY Control also sets standards. It offers a fully graphic colour display with automatic brightness control and provides the driver with all the necessary information at a glance.

The standard 48 Volt electric forklift trucks can now be equipped with 625 Ah batteries in A or B circuit, so that existing battery pools can continue to be used. As with the previous models, the quick and easy lateral battery change with a pallet truck is a great user benefit. Lithium-Ion batteries can also be integrated. With the large 931 Ah Li-Ion battery, almost 14 hours are possible in maximum operation and 18 hours in eco operation.

The new RX 20 series offers a total of 13 variants and is designed for loads from 1.4 to 2 tons with a load centre of 500 mm. Its space-saving design makes it interesting for industries where small aisle widths are required for narrow driveways, for example in beverage and building material markets, in the storage pre-zone for loading and unloading of trucks or containers as well as in block storage facilities. The Innovation Check certifies that the new generation of the RX 20 family has consistently improved the technology in this class and classifies the customer benefit as correspondingly high due to its high market relevance.

The IFOY Award has established itself as an indicator of economic efficiency and innovation. Due to its specialised expertise it is regarded as the most important innovation award in intralogistics. The decision is based on the IFOY audit. The devices and solutions are subjected to individually tailored driving or function tests, including the IFOY test protocol comprising around 80 criteria and the scientific IFOY Innovation Check. In addition, jurors and their advisory teams assess the finalists personally before voting. Above all, it is crucial that the nominees are compared not with each other, yet with their competing devices on the market.

The IFOY Award, which is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, is presented by the Association for Materials Handling and Intralogistics within the VDMA. IFOY partners are CeMAT, the world's leading trade fair for intralogistics, Hanover, and Messe München with its trade fairs transport logistic, bauma and IFAT. Pallet partner of the IFOY Award is Chep, world market leader in the pooling of pallets and containers. The technology partner is battery charging specialist Fronius.
