Jungheinrich Fleet Optimizer

Jungheinrich

The Jungheinrich Fleet Optimizer is an AI-powered recommendation system for the strategic optimization of vehicle fleets. It combines real-world operational data with structured intralogistics expertise from sales, consulting, and customer projects. A structured data science process translates operational challenges into scalable decision-making logic. Rather than simply providing metrics, the system delivers prioritized, transparent, and actionable recommendations to make fleets more efficient, cost-effective, and safe.

Description

Companies have extensive fleet and telematics data at their disposal, but manually analyzing it is time-consuming and requires in-depth expertise. At the same time, they expect concrete recommendations for optimizing fleet operations rather than additional reports.

This is where the Jungheinrich Fleet Optimizer comes in. It uses continuously updated fleet data, analyzes it in an operational context, and translates the findings into prioritized, well-founded recommendations. Instead of providing more tables and charts, the system answers key questions: How can fleet utilization be improved? Where are avoidable costs arising? Which vehicles are underutilized? Where is there potential to improve energy efficiency and safety?

To do so, the system evaluates actual fleet utilization and identifies excess capacity, including vehicles assigned to specialized applications and those needed for seasonal peaks. Customers receive a prioritized overview of specific optimization opportunities. Cross-site comparisons (benchmarking) are being evaluated for the 2027 roadmap. This makes inefficiencies visible, reduces analysis effort, and speeds up decision-making.

The underlying intralogistics and consulting expertise is consolidated into a scalable digital product. Additional use cases are being developed incrementally, based on real-world operational data and validated customer insights. This positions the Fleet Optimizer as a digital advisor for fleet operations.

Innovations

As fleet and telematics data continue to grow, the bottleneck is no longer data collection, but interpretation. The Jungheinrich Fleet Optimizer therefore advances fleet analysis from a reporting tool to a decision-support system.

From Data to Decisions: The Fleet Optimizer goes beyond traditional dashboards and reports. It interprets fleet data, prioritizes optimization opportunities, and derives recommendations with clear, traceable rationales. Customers gain a direct basis for decision-making instead of additional analysis tasks.

Scaling Expertise Digitally: More than 70 years of Jungheinrich expertise are made available through a scalable digital product. The analysis adapts to the specific fleet context and is not limited to a particular fleet size, vehicle class, or industry.

Domain Knowledge Guides AI: Proven decision-making logic developed by experienced Jungheinrich experts has been translated into algorithms. Unlike generic AI solutions, the Fleet Optimizer evaluates data patterns within their specific operational context. Domain expertise determines which patterns are relevant and whether they represent actionable optimization potential. The results are transparent and reproducible, enabling explainable, reliable decisions.

By combining automated data interpretation, scalable professional expertise, and domain-specific AI, Jungheinrich is evolving from a data provider into a digital decision-making advisor.

Market relevance

As vehicle fleets become increasingly digitalized, the volume of available data continues to grow. However, many operations lack the time, resources, and expertise to turn this data into sound decisions. At the same time, pressure is mounting to reduce costs, increase productivity, and provide reliable data for sustainability targets and reporting. Companies do not need more analysis; they need clear guidance.

The Jungheinrich Fleet Optimizer specifically targets warehouse, site, and regional managers overseeing fleets of 20 or more vehicles. In this segment, fleet complexity is high enough to offer significant optimization potential, while manual analysis is increasingly reaching its limits. Since the solution accesses existing fleet data, it can be deployed across existing fleets without additional data collection and can potentially be scaled across multiple sites. The addressable market comprises approximately 273,000 material handling trucks equipped with telematics boxes currently in operation, around 240,000 of which have the Starter Bundle. Live operation with four pilot customers began in March 2026. A soft launch with selected beta customers will follow in November 2026, with the official launch and commercial rollout scheduled for January 2027.

The Fleet Optimizer therefore addresses a clear market need: It makes existing data immediately actionable, unlocks economic potential in complex fleets, and lays the foundation for a scalable digital consulting approach.

Customer benefits

Identify inefficiencies early: The Fleet Optimizer continuously analyzes current operational data to uncover previously undetected optimization potential. Customers gain a clear overview of where action is needed.

Make better-informed decisions: Prioritized recommendations provide a reliable basis for operational decisions. Transparent, reproducible results show how potential has been assessed and make proposed measures easy to understand.

Reduce analysis workload: Automated analysis reduces repetitive manual work and frees up site and regional managers’ time. This leaves more time for improvements and strategic tasks.

Unlock cost-saving potential: Right-sizing fleets and deploying vehicles more strategically reduces costs while improving utilization and energy efficiency. During field tests, the Fleet Utilization use case demonstrated an average savings potential of 7%. Seasonal fluctuations and specific operational requirements are taken into account. This helps reduce excess capacity without compromising productivity or operational reliability.

Access expertise on demand: Customers can draw on Jungheinrich’s intralogistics and consulting expertise as needed, without relying on individual consulting projects. Insights are translated directly into actionable options, while feedback from field tests is continuously incorporated into further development.
