Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Winfried Bauer (born in 1965) is Editor-in-Chief of the trade magazine f+h Fördertechnik, Materialfluss, Logistik 4.0. After completing his mechanical engineering studies, specializing in conveyor technology at the Saarland University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrücken, Winfried began his professional career at the magazine f+h in 1995. Winfried has been Editor-in-Chief of the magazine since 2016.
As a source of ideas and impetus, he has made a significant contribution to the development of the long-established magazine. Under his leadership, f+h has developed into a modern media brand. If the passionate networker is ever at his desk, Winfried takes on the organization and moderation of seminars, forums and discussion groups.
For me, a solution is innovative if it offers the user significant added value and if it has the potential to transform markets.

What do you expect from an IFOY applicant?
An innovative solution. For me, products and systems are innovative if they offer the user significant added value. They also deserve to be called “innovative” if they have the potential to transform markets.
Can you remember the first IFOY winner who was also your favorite?
As I’ve only been on the jury since August 2018, it wasn’t that long ago. That was the ETV 216i reach truck from Jungheinrich.
How did you get into intralogistics?
One day during my mechanical engineering studies, I was faced with the question: which specialization should I choose? One of the subjects on offer was conveyor technology. It sounded exciting – and still does after almost 30 years. Even though we talk about intralogistics today.
