For me, innovation does not necessarily mean solving a problem that was previously unsolvable. For me, innovation means finding a different and better way to solve problems that have often already been solved in a cheaper, better or more original way. An innovation makes the customer's life easier.

Interview

What makes a product innovative?

Something innovative does not necessarily have to solve a problem or difficulty that was previously unsolvable: innovation means finding a different and better way to solve problems that have often already been solved in a cheaper, better or more original way. Innovation also means having an approach that has not been taken before, where the vision of seeing things differently prevails and where this vision is put into action. In contrast to “improvement”, innovation requires something new: a new approach, a new design, a new concept or a new philosophy that really makes customers’ lives easier.

How much has the focus on sustainability changed intralogistics?

Sustainability is based on the pillars of economy, society, environment and the principles of profit, people and planet. Logistics and intralogistics today are strongly focused on the conscious use of resources, with the concept of “think globally, act locally” becoming increasingly indispensable. In intralogistics in particular, the use of local suppliers to procure resources and materials and the use of recycled materials in products and processes is increasing. Using renewable energy and technologies wherever possible, reducing waste by eliminating unnecessary packaging, switching from paper to digital media and better managing the life cycle of products are all steps that lead to green logistics and intralogistics within the principles of the circular economy.
