Editor-in-Chief Transport a Logistika CZ

Dipl.-Ing. Michal Štengl (born 1978) is a professional journalist, Editor-in-Chief of the trade magazine Transport a Logistika CZ and, since 2022, also majority Co-Owner of the publishing house Luxur Media SK, which also publishes the Slovakian version of the magazine Transport a Logistika SK and operates the websites www.transport-logistika.cz and www.transport.sk.

Michal graduated from the Higher Industrial School of Transportation with a degree in shipping. From 1996 to 2003, he studied at the Czech Technical University in Prague, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in transport engineering. During his studies, he gained experience in writing technical texts in various PR agencies. Between 2002 and 2015, he worked for leading automotive magazines in the Czech Republic (Axel Springer Praha, Motor-Presse Bohemia and Business Media), including in management positions. During this time, he also acquired his first knowledge of production logistics and supply chains in the automotive industry.

In 2015, he became Editor-in-Chief of the specialist magazine Transport a Logistika CZ, which has been on the Czech market since 2010. Since 2018, he has been intensively involved in all areas of logistics in addition to freight transport. Michal is also a member of the international Bus and Coach of the Year jury.

The opportunity to be a jury member at IFOY offers a unique opportunity to get to know the latest and most innovative trends in logistics. Often long before they are put into practice. I also have the chance to meet interesting people who are leaders in their field. And it's also great to be part of an international team.

Interview

What makes an innovative solution?
A solution that can simplify and rationalize any activity. It must be easily accessible and quick to use and must not have a negative impact on the environment. Wine Indicator is also widely used in countries with less developed economies.

How much has the focus on sustainability changed intralogistics?
Quite considerably and this is still continuing. The word sustainability or ecology appears in almost every press release from the logistics industry. But more importantly, they are no longer just words.

How did you get into intralogistics?
Thanks to my publishing activities. Initially, I was only interested in intralogistics in the automotive sector. But as editor-in-chief of the magazine Transport und Logistik, I have dealt with all areas of logistics and intralogistics.

What does a solution have to bring to the table to convince you?
It must be user-friendly, sufficiently innovative, and cost-effective—and I appreciate it when the owner of the company presents the product themselves at TEST CAMP INTRALOGISTICS. In addition, automation and AI will play a more important role in the future.
