Interview

What do you expect from an IFOY applicant?

The product or service offering must set standards in its segment and should not remind me of another intralogistics product. It must offer something extremely unusual or unique. I want to be sure that success on the market is guaranteed.

How much has the focus on sustainability changed intralogistics?

The focus on sustainability has not only changed intralogistics, it has turned it on its head, so to speak. Products and services in intralogistics are completely different from those that came onto the market two decades ago. No serious company would develop something new today without taking sustainability into account. Aspects such as energy and emission reduction, environmentally friendly energy use and recycling play a major role. It is no longer enough to develop a new product that is good for the customer, it also has to be good for the planet.

Which criteria are particularly important to you?

I look for simple but highly effective solutions to intralogistics challenges. I specifically say simple because all too often the simplest products are the cleverest. In short: I want to see a product that offers clear and convincing advantages over its competitors.

What is your highlight at the IFOY AWARD?

The biggest highlight for me is the access to information and test results on the best intralogistics products in the world. The IFOY AWARD gives me the opportunity to evaluate the products that set the standard. It’s a chance to see the future in action.
