Description

The aluco STRIX system is a comprehensive solution designed to optimize logistics processes. It combines state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of freight measurement and automated dispatching to help companies make their processes more efficient, cost-effective & sustainable.

Freight measurement enables precise recording of consignment data through the use of stereo and 2D/3D cameras. In addition to the classic calculation of dimensions, it offers functions such as image documentation, incoming and outgoing freight scanning and the automatic recognition of warning labels and europallets.

The second system component is based on the data collected: Automated dispatching. It uses not only the recorded shipment information, but also recipient and package-specific data to plan the optimal allocation of shipments to vehicles. The aim is to use intelligent route planning to reduce fuel consumption, deploy and utilize vehicles more efficiently and thus reduce costs and CO₂ emissions.

The aluco STRIX system supports the digital transformation and sustainable optimization of logistics processes. It is aimed for companies that want to increase their efficiency, reduce costs and make a contribution to sustainability at the same time. Whether in general cargo logistics, intralogistics or other areas – the system is flexibly adaptable and offers measurable added value along the entire supply chain.

Innovations

The freight measurement system sets new standards with its on-the-fly technology: It captures the packages in motion – without interrupting the process. But we have gone one step further: By using artificial intelligence, the system learns continuously and can generate additional added value from the captured image data. This enables functions such as dangerous goods recognition, europallet recognition and the visualization of packages, which further optimizes the logistics process.

In the area of automated dispatching, aluco STRIX offers maximum flexibility and can be individually tailored to the customer’s requirements and challenges. Different disposition strategies enable customized planning. As a backend product, it integrates seamlessly into existing transport planning systems, making it very easy for dispatchers to accept and use.

Another key innovation is the integrated data cleansing, which ensures that all relevant information is available in the highest quality. This creates the ideal basis for activating the machine learning algorithm and continuously increases the accuracy and efficiency of dispatching. The system combines innovation, user-friendliness and adaptability for maximum logistics performance.

Market relevance

aluco STRIX is particularly relevant for the freight forwarding market, which plays an important role in transportation worldwide. There are around 15,000 freight forwarding companies in Germany and almost 100,000 worldwide. These companies are mainly active in local and long-distance transportation and represent a large target group for the aluco STRIX system. In Germany alone, the market (TAM) for freight forwarding companies is worth around 8.5 billion euros.

The effectiveness and efficiency of the freight measurement system also opens up new markets in intralogistics and air freight, where it is also used. The ability to precisely record freight data and optimize processes in real time based on this data is also of great importance for these sectors.

The continuous development of automated dispatching is also opening up new areas of application. The technology is now being used in local public transport and by shippers, who also benefit from precise and data-driven planning. The expansion into different markets demonstrates the product’s potential to establish itself in a wide range of sectors with growing demand and thus leverage further market potential.

Customer benefits

The freight measurement system offers a wide range of benefits that significantly improve the user’s logistics processes. The optimization of freight data and the collection of other important planning data, such as dimension data calculation and object recognition, enable precise and comprehensive planning. The additional information increases data quality, which is further supported by the data cleansing module. This high-quality database is crucial for activating the learning algorithm in automated dispatching and leads to better planning and resource utilization.

The central goal is to increase vehicle capacity utilization, which leads to a reduction in CO₂ emissions and improved sustainability of logistics processes. In addition, the automation and integration of artificial intelligence optimizes processes and reduces costs. Manual work can be minimized and efficiency increased.

The reduction in manual work not only helps to increase productivity, but also has a positive impact on employee satisfaction, as recurring, time-consuming tasks are eliminated. This promotes employee loyalty and a positive working environment. Overall, the implementation of aluco STRIX leads to a significant increase in efficiency, sustainability and employee satisfaction.

IFOY Innovation Check

Functionality / Type of implementation

Freight of any size and on various load carriers is measured as it passes through (on a tow tractor or forklift), with the results linked to any available input data. These measurements then serve as the basis for optimization in both dispatching and route planning. The key advantage of aluco STRIX is its seamless integration of hardware, AI, and precise measurement-based evaluation methods into process workflows and optimization strategies. The system can also be applied in various other use cases, such as contour inspection before automated warehouses and freight optimization.

Novelty / Innovation

The core innovation lies in the unique combination of hardware, data analysis logic, and subsequent process integration. Using stereo, 3D, and 2D cameras, the system not only performs precise freight measurements on any type of load carrier but also utilizes AI methods to determine packing volume. Additionally, it identifies the type of load carrier and any codes or markings present. All of this takes place as the freight moves through a portal at normal driving speeds, whether on forklifts or tow trailers. Based on the detected contours and freight volumes, a complex process of load and route optimization is triggered, enabling a far-reaching optimization process beyond mere digitalization.

By combining the scanning and measuring processes into a single workflow, a wealth of additional data is provided or verified. In the context of a digital twin, this significantly improves data quality, making the optimization process far more reliable and increasing its overall potential.

Customer benefit

This technology can be easily integrated into regular operations, allowing measurement and data capture to take place directly in the logistics flow at the loading dock. The collected data enables an almost comprehensive optimization of the logistics process – currently, primarily in outbound logistics. However, similar potential exists in inbound operations, such as contour verification in pre-zones of automated warehouses and volume-optimized storage.

The system greatly reduces reliance on manually recorded or unverified customer-provided data while significantly improving the reliability of the optimization process. As a result, a closed, fully automated workflow based on verified data becomes possible.

By increasing vehicle or warehouse utilization rates, significant efficiency gains can be achieved, which also contribute to sustainability goals.

Market relevance

Without highly reliable data, targeted efficiency improvements in transport logistics are nearly impossible. The growing diversity of freight shipments, especially in e-commerce, makes it increasingly difficult to standardize load carriers. Additionally, customer-provided information is often suboptimal. To ensure a high level of security in the optimization process despite these challenges, freight carriers depend on reliable data. aluco STRIX provides this data while also integrating it into follow-up processes for comprehensive optimization. Beyond freight forwarding, the system offers various applications for load monitoring and optimization, with future implementations planned based on Aluco’s existing approach.

IFOY verdict

aluco STRIX is a highly innovative solution that leverages existing sensor technology for real-time data acquisition, optimal evaluation, and the use of verified, high-value data for holistic process optimization. This significantly enhances the quality of the optimization process and unlocks numerous opportunities for implementation across the entire logistics workflow.
