The MOFFETT e-Series electric truck mounted forklift is the world’s first all-electric 3-wheel drive truck mounted forklift. Within the dimensions of an existing M4 machine, the producers has been able to install batteries, motors, controllers, etc.,to electrify the forklift.
Typically truck mounted forklifts are used in many applications around the world, for example building materials, wood, gas, beverage/food/last mile deliveries, agriculture (turf, animal food) and many more. There is an increasing demand for lower emissions and noise free deliveries (i.e. at night) which is a challenge for current diesel driven forklifts. With the new e-Series it will now be possible to deliver emission free, noise free and even delivering indoor directly from the delivery truck. The new electric truck mounted forklift has numerous safety and environmental benefits for both its owner and operator:
Fleet Management: All MOFFETT e-Series NX machines will be fitted with Hi-Connect, which will monitor over 100 machine parameters and display some of them on the HMI and others on the Hi-Connect portal. The MOFFETT E-NX is the second generation of the world’s first all-electric, 3-wheel truck-mounted forklift truck. A virtually silent and emission-free alternative to the internal combustion engine powered transport vehicles used to deliver building materials, food, agricultural products and countless other goods around the world. The vehicle even allows goods to be delivered indoors.
The noise level of the electric truck-mounted forklift is so low that it can be used even in “problem hours” without disturbing residents. In addition, the driver does not need any special hearing protection, which offers a plus in safety because he is more aware of his surroundings.
The low-vibration electronic drive also increases driving comfort and reduces fatigue as well as health risks for the driver. The switch to electric driving also pays off financially. Of course, the battery needs to be charged regularly. This can be done with a separate charger, but also during transport. This ensures that the truck-mounted forklift remains ready for use even during longer distribution trips.
All MOFFETT e-Series NX machines are equipped with Hi-Connect, which monitors more than 100 machine parameters. Key parameters such as remaining battery capacity, operator safety and service messages are shown on the display. The display also monitors for possible overload.
Safety is a top priority on the MOFFETT. The product is equipped with both an orange seat belt and a safety gate. Both must be used before the truck can be activated.
During the test, the MOFFETT E4-25.3NX is whisper quiet yet extremely powerful. The acceleration is powerful and the driving speed of 10km/h is sufficiently high. It hardly makes a difference whether you drive with or without a load. The lifting speed of 15.5 cm/sec. is easily sufficient for this type of truck.

The demand for individual independent deliveries with the need for truck-mounted forklifts will increase. In this area, the E4-NX meets the trend of the time to offer an ecological alternative to previous standards through electrification. The operating costs, which are significantly lower in the long term than for diesel trucks, will increasingly encourage users to switch to solutions such as the E4-NX. The market relevance is therefore considered to be high.
Thanks to emission-free operation, the user of the E4-NX can move a wide variety of goods in load ranges of up to 2.5 t very flexibly in confined spaces outdoors and indoors. The electric drive eliminates the usual restrictions when driving in indoor areas. The very good and smooth maneuverability and problem-free traction on various surfaces continue to be an advantage, whereas diesel-powered truck-mounted forklifts tend to operate more roughly in terms of comfort and vibrations. The much lower noise emissions of the truck offer a high increase in the daytime flexibility of deliveries. In addition, the lower operating costs lead to a positive cost-benefit balance after a reasonable operating time.
Although the E4-NX is a second-generation unit, it can still be considered innovative due to the numerous details and all-electric design. The overall solution – although electric with battery – hardly shows any increase in dead weight compared to the diesel-powered M4-NX. A changed weight distribution due to the electric motors of the unit towards the front has an advantageous effect on the trailer. During travel, additional hydraulic supports in front of the front wheels serve as an extended tipping edge and ensure the stability of the unit.
In operation, the E4-NX sets new benchmarks in its field. The all-electric version can be compared with other already electrified in-plant industrial trucks in terms of operating comfort and control sensitivity. The overall concept appears sophisticated as well as well conceived with a robust and high-quality design at the same time.
