Description

LOGISTICS INTERCHAT was developed to facilitate communication between carriers and the logistics centres, companies, platforms, transhipment centres, etc. where they have to load or unload goods.

LOGISTICS INTERCHAT avoids transcription errors and translates conversations in real time. The constant communication between all interlocutors makes it possible to avoid unnecessary contacts and travel, to respect social distance protocols and to anticipate incidents during transport en route.

Innovations

The solution was developed specifically to solve the lack of language skills of the people involved in a process. There is no comparable product.

Market relevance

LOGISTICS INTERCHAT is a new software without comparison with another product in the international market. Developed with the latest languages, encryption in your communications and using google services that guarantee the quality of the product in real-time translation of both text and voice. Its distribution and use will be international. Intended for any carrier in the world and any company in the logistics and distribution sector, by air, sea or ground.

Test report

LOGISTICS INTERCHAT by OPPIDUM TIC is a unique platform worldwide. The software has been specially developed to facilitate communication between freight forwarders on the one hand and the logistics centres, companies, transhipment points, etc. where they load and unload.

The platform translates conversations in real time using Google Translate. There are currently 125 languages available. Translations are available in both text and voice. And always in the language of the recipient. New messages can also be typed and spoken. In addition, documents can be easily attached to a message.

Messages can be sent to one, several or all contacts in the system. For example, if a warehouse is temporarily closed due to heavy snowfall or COVID-19, every transporter or truck driver who approaches the warehouse for loading or unloading automatically receives the message in his or her native language.

In the dashboard, priorities can be quickly and easily assigned to the different carriers by dragging and dropping. In addition, “loading” and “unloading” are differentiated by colour, so that it is clear at a glance which task belongs to which carrier.

With the warehouse app, communication can also be integrated with PDAs and smart glasses so that messages can be read directly on the warehouse floor. Currently, integration with these technologies is limited to Zebra Technology devices.

Continuous communication between all parties involved makes it possible to avoid unnecessary contacts and journeys, maintain social distance protocols and anticipate incidents during road transport.

As the system is based on Google Translate, the quality of the translation depends on Google. During the IFOY test, the tester found out that the voice messages in German were much better understood than in Dutch, for example. The texts translated during the IFOY test were clear in the result and can avoid miscommunication in practice.

Currently, the app is only available on Android. An iOS version has been announced.

LOGISTICS INTERCHAT is a globally unique platform that can reduce the number of errors in logistics chains. With Google services, real-time translation of texts and voice messages is guaranteed. However, the use of Google Translate can also be a limitation, depending on the language chosen. In any case, it is clear that the software enables time savings and economic benefits.

Market relevance

LOGISTICS INTERCHAT offers a solution to the well-known problem of multilingualism between shippers, carriers and consignees of consignments. Time and again, communication difficulties occur in the operation of transhipment points in logistics, leading to errors or process delays. The relevance for the market is therefore there, although it will not be easy to organise the reliable use of LOGISTICS INTERCHAT between the above-mentioned process partners in advance.

Customer benefit

The customer benefit is clearly evident from the portal functions presented. The translation between different languages works and can solve the problems mentioned under market relevance.

Novelty

The principle of machine speech recognition and translation is well known. With the freely available online translation services of the platform providers, technical solutions already exist today, but they are not as easy to use as the portal of OPPIDUM TIC.

Functionality / type of implementation

The solution is apparently not yet fully completed. In particular, the AP for devices with iOS does not yet exist. Individual functions were apparently also still started manually and could not yet be accessed from the platform’s interface or a demonstration mode. Overall, however, the customer benefit of the software can already be seen.
