The Combi-CS is a compact pedestrian operated counterbalance stacker that can work in narrow aisles for space saving and productive storage and handling procedures. Its design ensures optimum visibility of the load and surroundings for the operator and therefore guarantees maximum safety in areas where other personnel or members of the public may be present, for example in manufacturing facilities, retail and DIY and back of store applications.

The Combi-CS is a pedestrian operated counterbalance stacker which was developed to handle pallets and regular loads in narrow confines. The internationally patented and award-winning multi-position tiller arm is a key feature on the machine for safer operation, maximum operator visibility and narrow aisle performance. The operator’s working position alongside the unit also enables aisle widths to be narrowed down. With the length from the back of the unit to the face of the forks of just 1050mm, the Combi-CS offers space saving operation and can also block stack standard pallets for maximum use of storage capacity.
Low effort AC power steering and a display unit fitted on the tiller arm for monitoring by the operator are further advantages. The powerful high capacity 375Ah battery guarantees constant availability even throughout long shifts and its roll out design enables quick and easy changing. A tilting mast comes as standard – a feature not available on many pedestrian trucks.
The Combi-CS is the only pedestrian counterbalance stacker that will operate in a conventional reach truck aisle. Combilift’s unique, internationally patented and award-winning multi-position tiller arm is a key feature on the machine for safer operation, maximum operator visibility and narrow aisle performance. The tiller can be turned to the left or right of the unit to position the rear drive wheel, allowing the operator to remain at the side of the machine rather than at the rear as is the case with other pedestrian stackers.
This position reduces the risk of operators being trapped or crushed between the back of the truck and racking when handling products in narrow aisles. It also allows for full visibility of both the load and the forks as the operator does not need to look through the mast and therefore enables higher awareness of other pedestrians in the vicinity. The tilting mast benefits the operator for picking and placing of loads. The 5 degree rearward tilt keeps the load secure on the forks when travelling. The low mast pivot point combined with the rearward tilt decreases the load moment when loads are being picked or placed at height. The dual side by side front wheels provide maximum wheel base length and reduces wheel scrub when making tight turns. The rear 2.5Kw drive wheel coupled with low effort power steering provides the operator with maximum traction and control of the truck.
This product is very relevant to the market. Along with other Combilift pedestrian trucks, the Combi-CS was developed following specific requests from customers for pedestrian trucks that were superior to other types and brands on the market in terms of safety, manoeuvrability, versatility and space saving operation. The demand for pedestrian operated trucks due to many of the reasons quoted in this submission is growing rapidly and from Combilift’s view the sales potential of the Combi-CS is substantial. The ability to turn the tiller arm to the left or right enables operation in tight confines and narrow aisles for improved storage density which is a substantial advantage when space is costly. Where possible and depending on the loads to be handled the preference is for this type of equipment rather than ride-on forklifts. Companies in the logistics and warehousing, manufacturing, food & beverage, DIY and retail sectors benefit from the safe and space saving operation that the Combi-CS can offer. Combilift expects its pedestrian truck range to be one of its largest growing product segments in the next few years.
Thanks to the multi-position tiller arm customers benefit from increased safety – a number one priority. It is particularly beneficial for companies who need to move goods around in areas where not only employees but also the general public may be present, such as in DIY and retail outlets. Electric power enables low-emission and quiet operation. Energy efficiency, low maintenance and therefore low operating costs guarantee economical operation and good ROI. The Combi-CS is compact, manoeuvrable and has a small turning circle and can be operated in tight spaces so does not require costly storage space to be sent aside for its operation. It is quick and easy to train operators to work with the Combi-CS, so therefore more time and cost effective compared to training on ride-on forklifts.

The Combi-CS is a compact pedestrian stacker that can be used even in the most confined areas. The truck has a capacity of 1,000 kg and a lifting height of 2,500 mm. Among others, it features power steering, AC motor technology, rear wheel drive and a patented multi-position tiller arm, which we know from the PPT electro pallet truck nominated at an earlier edition of the IFOY AWARD.
The tiller can be turned to the left or right and enables push-button rotation of the rear wheel. This allows the operator to remain at the safest side when placing and picking in narrow aisles, providing full visibility of the load and forks, while maintaining full steering control, enabling greater awareness of their surroundings which enhances overall safety.
Standing to the side of the stacker also eliminates the risk of being trapped or crushed while allowing the Combi-CS to operate in very narrow aisles. Even working in a narrower reach truck aisle is easy and safe. When working with euro-pallets, the required aisle width for this smallest variant is only 2.10 metres.
Striking, for this truck segment, is the standard tilting mast. The mast can be tilt up to 2 degrees forward and up to 5 degrees backward and, ensuring that the load remains safely on the fork while driving.
However, simultaneous lifting and tilting is not possible. The dual side by side front wheels provide maximum wheel base length and reduce wheel scrub when making tight turns. The rear 2.5 kW drive wheel coupled with low effort power steering provides the operator with maximum traction and control of the truck.
The IFOY test truck is the lightest version in the CS range, with a lifting capacity of 1,000 kg. The truck has a 24V/375 Ah battery and reaches maximum speeds of 5 km/h in the IFOY Test. As standard Combilift provides the stacker with cantilever forks.
Completely in the Combilift tradition, the truck is robust and very solidly built. The modern display on the tiller informs the user on wheel position, driving direction and battery status. The number of operating hours, the turtle or hare and the possibly activated parking brake can also be seen.
Working with the Combi-CS is intuitive but needs attention. As an operator, you have to keep your head in it. The truck can be precisely steered and operated when driven with care. The shrill beep, when driving in the fork direction and when lowering the fork, may cause irritation, the testers think.
The Combi-CS is compact, manoeuvrable and has a small turning circle thanks to its short wheel base. Equipped with Combilifts patented multi-position tiller arm the truck offers safer operation, optimized operator visibility and narrow aisle performance. The short wheelbase requires some getting used which also goes for the electric steering, showing a slight deceleration.

Manually operated pallet warehouses are not only in medium-sized companies of high importance and used in large numbers. Conventional warehouse trucks are still the most important handling instrument.
The aisle width required to manoeuvre the truck is considerably wider than that of narrow aisle trucks, which significantly limits the storage density.
The Combilift CombiCS allows the steering drawbar to be turned relative to the drive wheel so that the vehicle can be steered sideways. This makes manoeuvring much easier. In addition, the driver can leave the narrow space between the vehicle and the rear shelf. With simple means a clear innovation can be created here in the operation.
The operation with that product has to be learnt, but it nevertheless far-reaching intuitive and logical. The purely electro-hydraulic steering principle with a slight time delay does not lead to any disadvantages after a short period of getting used to it.
The product is a nice hands-on solution. It offers a clear added value in terms of operation and safety in tight environments. The market relevance is very high. The product is a user-oriented solution (patented process) that has been professionally implemented.
The solution is not overly innovative – in terms of the latest technology.
