Warehouse Truck „lowlifter“

The powerful Jungheinrich tugger train solution consists of the tow truck EZS 5100 with GTE trailers.
The EZS 5100 is a heavy-duty, high-performance tow tractor. Whether indoors or outdoors – with towing capacities of up to 10 tons the EZS 5100 is suitable for every application. The EZS 5100 also provides top driving comfort and ensures high safety standards combined with low energy consumption.
The Jungheinrich E-frame trailer GTE 312 facilitates the flexible and cost-effective transportation of loads with a capacity of up to 1,200 kg per trailer. The central axle ensures optimum directional stability even when maneuvering with long trains and in narrow spaces.
The simple, ergonomic loading of the trolleys into the trailers is done via electro-hydraulic lift. The electrically connected trailers provide the best conditions for easy, reliable and clean operation. A high level of energy efficiency is guaranteed by the energy conversion directly within the trailer.
Tow Tractor:
The EZS 5100 is the strongest tow tractor in its class. The performance increase of +3,000 kg to 10,000 kg towing capacity (compared to the former model) offers enough power for heavy-duty applications.
The vehicle is fitted with our new comfort suspension system: The fully sprung chassis with springs and shock absorbers on every wheel not only spares the driver’s back, but also the truck.
Trailer:
Only the GTE 312 offers clean and fast lifting with an electro-hydraulic lift. The trailers are coupled via electrical connections, preventing leakages of hydraulic fluid.
The GTE 312 ensures optimum energy utilization by restricting energy consumption to each individual trailer in which the load is lifted/ lowered. Therefore, at each stop irrelevant loads remain in the raised position to save energy.
The Jungheinrich tugger train solution consisting of the EZS 5100 in combination with GTE 312 trailers enable user to benefit from increased energy efficiency and cost optimization.
Jungheinrich tugger train systems enable users to achieve several goals simultaneously:
Sophisticated ergonomics and technology in the form of our tugger train solution EZS 5100 / GTE 312 ensure safe and effortless operations with high cost and energy efficiency.

Jungheinrich rounded off its “5” series tractors in mid-2015 with the launch of the EZS 5100. The latest addition to the series has a capacity of up to 10 tonnes and is the most powerful tractor in its class, thanks to the 48-Volt/625-Ah battery and a high-performance 5.4-kW AC motor. Jungheinrich offers a 2-shift-1-charge warranty on this powerhouse vehicle.
The tractor has been fitted with full suspension and modern LED lighting for maximum comfort. The lighting can be set at two different positions.
The Jungheinrich EZS 5100 is nominated for the IFOY Award together with the Jungheinrich-GTE 312 tugger train trailers.
The trailers have a maximum load capacity of 1.2 tonnes and were brought on to the market in January 2015. One special feature is that the trailers are not operated pneumatically or hydraulically but electrically. The platform itself is equipped with an electro-hydraulic lift system.
The advantage of the electrical operating concept is that the trailers can be hooked up and unhooked easily and without the risk of oil leakage. In addition, they can also be operated individually, leading to a further improvement in energy efficiency.
During loading and unloading of the trolleys, the electrical control system ensures that the trolleys already begin to roll lightly towards the operator and can then be driven to the desired point with less effort. In addition, the electrical operating concept makes it possible to equip the tugger train with “curve control” to automatically reduce cornering speed (a feature that was not fitted to the test vehicle). The tractor then only reaches its maximum speed once again when the last trailer is in a straight line with the rest of the train.
The focus is also on safety when it comes to lifting the trailers. The trolleys cannot be lifted if they are within the contours of the trailer. The lifting process itself is automatically activated as soon as the stop point is reached.
It takes almost no time at all to get used to driving and working with the Jungheinrich EZS and the trailers. Steering is highly intuitive, the tractor is extremely quiet and moves very smoothly. The motor brake is also pleasingly predictable. The trailers are very practical, both for loading and unloading. The pedal control system is solidly designed. Loading of consignments is intuitive and robust. As soon as the stop point is reached, the trolley lifts the load, which can then be transported without any problem. During this process, the trailer train faithfully follows the tractor and can even navigate bends easily and rapidly. Disembarking is possible on both sides of the tractor, although care must be taken not to accidentally press the “Emergency Stop” button on the right-hand side.
The EZS 5100 tractor is uniquely smooth, quiet and powerful. Operation is intuitive and easy, and the machine reaches high speeds. The GTE 312 trailers are easy to operate and, thanks to the electrical plug connectors, can be hooked up and unhooked without any problem. Loading and unloading of consignments is fast and efficient.

The EZS 5100 tow tractor from Jungheinrich, nominated for the IFOY Award together with the electro-hydraulic lift trailer GTE 312, is a solution for the common in-plant task of supplying materials on manually pushed trolleys to a production line. The frequency with which the tugger train concept is used to supply decentrally located production installations – and not just in the automotive industry but also beyond – means the tractor train concept from Jungheinrich is of high market relevance. Many market participants offer solutions for tugger train operations. The Jungheinrich combination of tractor and tugger train trailers uses individual hydraulic drive units for each trailer and meets the frequently voiced demand of industry for at least doing without couplings between the hydraulic elements in order to minimise the risk of oil leakage. The trainers are linked with the energy store of the tractor vehicle via electrical connections. In this way, Jungheinrich is responding effectively to the requirements of the market.
The explicit customer benefit is to be described as good and derives from the balanced properties of the tractor and its high pulling power. From the point of view of the operator, the suspension on both axles and control elements for fine positioning of the trailers are key to reducing strain due to continuous use and therefore not only maintaining the performance capability of the system but also ensuring a high level of safety during manoeuvring at the loading and unloading stations.
The combination of tractor and trailers is described by Jungheinrich themselves as a further development with significant technical improvements. The optimised components used in the solution are of extremely high quality. At the same time, however, the new character of these further developments does not reflect any real degree of innovation compared to the known and well-established solutions that are already available in the market.
In purely technological terms, this represents the highly sophisticated and professional implementation of a vehicle combination of tractor and trailers with a wide range of details that are well accepted in the market.
