The new BT Levio P-series 2.0-2.5t powered pallet trucks are made for medium to intense applications and handle heavy loads efficiently and safely. Compact and powerful, these trucks with flip-up driver platform and Click-2-Creep are ideal for working in confined areas and loading/unloading lorries.
The trucks´ small size and high speed potential (up to 12.5 km/h) make them easy to manoeuvre in the tightest places, offering flexibility and maximising the pallets per hour performance. The top quality is ensured by the unique Toyota Production System. Driveability is enhanced by the foldable side guards, small turning radius in confined areas and flip-up platform and the excellent all-round visibility.
The series presents a large choice of driver protection and ergonomics: foldable gates, fixed backrest and fixed side protection with foot sensor at the back to reduce the risk of foot injuries. The adjustable tiller arm height enables operators to work in the ideal position.
The advanced electronic concept Optimised Truck Performance gives driver and load optimum stability by controlling the speed and angle when cornering. The BT Powertrak ensures that the drive-wheel grip is always optimised according to the load weight. They have low energy consumption and regenerative braking, making them more environmentally conscious.
The models are available with the Toyota I_Site fleet management system. They also exist in Lithium-ion version for multi-shift operations.
The BT Levio P-series 2.0-2.5t powered pallet trucks have been built with the operator in mind. Therefore, the main innovations are meant to prioritise driver comfort. The trucks dispose of height adjustable tiller arm that allows the operator to find the ideal working position. The new one-touch foldable gates make it easier for the driver to fold the gates up and down. Another new feature on the trucks is the foot protection sensor on the fixed side protection version for extra safety.
The ground breaking Optimised Truck Performance enables an electronically controlled speed when taking corners, preserving an optimum, safe balance. The speed is reduced when cornering depending on the length of the forks and a controlled steering force is activated depending on the driving speed and direction.
Last but not least, the models are now also available in their Li-ion version for highly efficient operations.
The BT Levio P-series 2.0t, 2.2t and 2.5t powered pallet trucks have been built for maximum safety and outstanding ergonomics. These are enhanced thanks to features such as chassis integrated fixed side protection, foot protection sensor, and height adjustable tiller arm.
The trucks deliver high levels of productivity and driveability thanks to their high speed and great acceleration, excellent fork visibility, and stability supported by the Optimised Truck Performance.
The models also stand out for their excellent durability which is further enhanced by a Heavy Duty Drive unit and fork carriage.
The BT Levio P-series 2.0-2.5t powered pallet trucks meet the Toyota high standards of productivity, durability, driveability, safety and environmental consciousness.
With a maximum speed of 12.5 km/h, impressive lift capacity and low energy consumption, the BT Levio P-series trucks with driver platform can achieve more work cycles per battery charge than conventional powered pallet trucks, dramatically raising productivity. The heavy duty construction guarantees high utilization in high intensity applications.
Three types of driver protection secure a high level of safety for the operator: solid foldable gate, fixed backrest and fixed side protection. These give the customer the possibility to configure the perfect powered pallet truck according to their specific needs.
These models benefit from increased driveability thanks to their compact design. They also make proof of outstanding manoeuvrability due to foldable side guards, small turning radius in confined areas and flip up platform. The BT Levio P-series trucks benefit from an essential design simplicity which makes them smooth, easy to use, safe and powerful.

The BT Levio P series from Toyota Material Handling made its world debut at the CeMAT 2014. The low-lift truck is available in a pedestrian version or with fold-down stand-in platform. There are also two variants with a permanent platform – one with a fixed rear panel and one with fixed side protection. The model that underwent the IFOY test was a version with stand-in platform.
Like all trucks in the series, the BT Levio pallet truck has been completely redesigned. The new design is modern and of a high quality, and the truck is solidly made. The only feature from the predecessor model is the tiller arm, ensuring intuitive handling and therefore facilitating the changeover to the new model.
The Levio P series is available with load capacities of 2, 2.2 and 2.5 tons and a maximum battery capacity of 600 Ah/24 V as well as a selection of matching battery containers. The vehicle in the test has a capacity of 2 tons and a 225 Ah/24V battery.
The design of the Levio P from Toyota Material Handling focuses on safety and ergonomic aspects, as was confirmed in the IFOY test. The sloped front section of the battery compartment cover provides an improved view of the fork tips. The tiller arm has three height settings, thereby always ensuring a good standing position for drivers of all heights. In addition, the new platform suspension cushions shocks and vibrations far more effectively. The side protection bars on both sides are extremely easy to fold up and down: in platform mode, all that is necessary is to raise them slightly until they click into place, and the side protection is then locked in exactly the right position. The blocking mechanism can be unlocked for pedestrian operation by slightly raising the protection bars, and the bracket then automatically folds back down.
The model with fixed side protection is also equipped with a sensor that monitors the operator’s foot position. As soon as the operator steps beyond the contours of the stand-in platform, the truck stops automatically.
The measurements during the IFOY test confirmed the outstanding overall performance capability. The new Levio P outperforms its predecessor in terms of all productivity parameters: the low-lift truck is not only 15 percent more productive than the predecessor model but also boasts 7 percent higher productivity than its competitors. Energy consumption is unchanged despite the higher productivity, making the BT Levio one of the most cost-efficient vehicles in its class.
The measured driving speeds and the acceleration are noticeably better both with and without load – and are both higher than was previously the case. The test truck reached a speed of 10 km/h and accelerates far faster than its predecessor.
The pallet truck runs extremely smoothly and quietly, and the new LPE can even be described as comfortable compared to the predecessor model. The operating characteristics are predictable, and the machine responds extremely well to the touch thanks to the (optional) power-assisted steering. Driving in the direction of the forks is the only mode of travel that takes a little time to get used to, but this does not have any negative impact on the overall performance of the machine.
With the new BT Levio P series, Toyota has launched a successful range of low-lift trucks. The Levio is far quieter, more responsive, more powerful and faster than its predecessor model. The range of battery compartment choices mean that a suitable battery can also be used for super-intensive operation. Thanks to the retained tiller arm design, the Levio P is operated just like its predecessor. The finish and the storage options set a benchmark for the competition, and – in combination with the ergonomic and safety features – underpin a clear-cut test verdict: with the BT Levio P series, Toyota has not just made a large step but a veritable leap in the right direction.

As with other machines, the development work on the BT Levio P series has resulted in improved ergonomics for the user. The new and relatively easily height-adjustable tiller arm makes steering easier and also enhances user safety, as even tall users can still stand upright when operating the truck. The newly designed side protection bars greatly facilitate the adjustment of this safety device, and this will certainly underpin user acceptance. The innovation package is rounded off by the foot sensor, which can help to prevent the frequent injuries to feet and legs when operating this kind of material handling truck.
Like other vehicles on the market, this truck can use lithium-ion batteries, which are fitted in place of the standard battery types to boost efficiency and productivity. The forklift is also equipped with a driving dynamics regulator to adapt the driving mode to the forks used; when the vehicle is cornering, this system automatically reduces the truck speed to a pre-parameterised value.
All in all, this vehicle represents a solid further development of existing vehicles of this class and also offers innovative features.
