IFOY Audit
Finalists undergo the three-stage IFOY Audit as part of the IFOY Audit, which takes place during the TEST CAMP INTRALOGISTICS. This consists of the scientific IFOY Innovation Check, the IFOY Test and the jury test.
Fully autonomously working factories combined with Industry 4.0 and the IoT (Internet of Things) are the driving visions of our current time. A very important issue here is the intralogistics of internal goods. In the area of small goods logistics, this vision is already very close to reality, in contrast to the sector of large goods. The HUSKi closes the gap for large goods between autonomous driving and automatic and contactless loading of machines and processes.

The HUSKi is used when weights over 500 kilogram (up to 1,500 kilogram) have to be moved without a forklift truck or without the help of manipulators, where goods have to be picked up or dropped off automatically and in a defined manner at a definded transfer point. During the transfer the HUSKi communicates actively with the process machine and initiates the transfer process. It finds its own position to the transfer point at safely and also aligns the product carrier automatically and delivers it in a defined manner. Thanks to the built-in sensors, the HUSKi can also transport different sizes of product carriers.
In combination with the intelligence of the pull-tractor (applicable for all brands), the HUSKi transports its goods through the factory in a precise and time-optimized manner, adaptable at any time and tailored to the needs of production. This not only increases the efficiency of production but also minimizes storage space within the production. This is much more effective and sustainable than rigid logistics systems. The trolley receives its energy from the tractor via a 24V plug connection and therefore free of an external charging process. Its energy-saving infrastructure places only a marginal load on the tractor’s battery. With its scalability in size and weight, the HUSKi can adapt to any working environment and can also perform special tasks.
Compared to competing products, only the HUSKi can transfer large and heavy goods up to 1.5 t. in a contactless fashion and automatically, always responding to the requirements of production and, in combination with the pull-tractor, enabling autonomous intralogistics. In addition, its great variability in goods and carriers to be transported is an innovation itself. Its integrated intelligence and the associated communication with process machines is unique.
It is impossible to imagine intralogistics without the route train, nor can it be replaced by current products. Roller conveyors often are blocking the way. The goal of the intralogistics industry, however, has long been to ensure forklift-free but flexible production. With the HUSKi this dream has now come one step closer. Until the year 2025 we see a growth of at least 30 percent in the intralogistics industry. Target groups are mainly companies that already use the route train or currently use forklifts and have set the goal of autonomous and flexible intralogistics. Furthermore, target customers for the HUSKi are companies that have production processes that are harmful to humans, e.g. through the use of high-energy radiation or inhumane atmospheres.
Using the HUSKi customers are enabled to transport and transfer large loads automatically and contactless. Repairs to mechanical stops or positioning aids become obsolete. Additionally, when the loads are transferred to a process machine, the separate instructor for the forklift driver is saved. In the case of autonomous driving of the route train, the forklift driver himself is saved. Storage capacities are reduced by the intelligent use of the autonomous route train with automated transfer of large goods.
With the HUSKi, H+E Produktentwicklung, presents a solution for transporting large goods manually, semi-automatically or autonomously and bringing them automatically to the desired location, for example along a production or assembly line.
The solution was demonstrated during the IFOY DAYS with a manually operated tugger. For exact positioning at the pick-up stations, the tugger is equipped with a laser pointer and lines were marked on the floor.
Positioning the HUSKi requires some skill. The correct position is checked by two light barriers; one on the HUSKi and one on the transfer station. If the cells face each other correctly, the control indicators on the tractor display turn green and the transfer can begin. On the touch display, the operator selects the desired operation. In the opinion of the test team, the pictograms are not always intuitive. The manufacturer has already considered a change.
Once the task is selected, the transfer can be activated. To do this, the operator must turn around and the button on the back of the tractor can be pressed. Since the operator is standing facing backwards on the tractor, he has a view of the handover and can intervene quickly in an emergency.
During the transfer, the HUSKi actively communicates with the process machine. In autonomous mode, the HUSKi independently and safely finds its position and automatically aligns the goods carrier before the goods are transferred in the predefined manner.
If required or necessary, for example to ensure a smooth process flow in the chain, built-in sensors check whether the load is positioned centrally on the HUSKi.
The system is brand-independent. In combination with the intelligence of the tractor, the HUSKi transports its goods precisely. The system is customisable and can be adapted to specific needs. For example, the transfer stations are mobile and can be easily relocated. The load guidance is also customisable.
The trailer is supplied with power from the tugger via a 24V plug connection. A charging function is therefore not required. Energy consumption is so low that the tugger´s battery is also only minimally loaded.
It is no longer possible to imagine intralogistics without tugger trains. However, the capacity of existing systems is often limited. HUSKi offers a solution to move weights of over 500 to 1,500 kilograms without the help of manipulators. Unique is the integrated intelligence and the associated communication with process machines. A more intuitive operation of the display would be desirable according to the IFOY test team.
The new development HUSKi from H+E Produktentwicklung GmbH has been developed optionally for larger, bulky goods in addition to the standard pallet sizes. With its individual scalability, the HUSKi is flexibly relevant for special market areas and can also be an alternative to forklift use for its possible goods sizes.
The presented device allows functionality for automatic or manual loading and unloading at transfer points. The contactless sensors for position detection in relation to the transfer point enable simple, transparent and, above all, safe operation for the customer. Positioning is further supported by optical information for the driver. This makes in-house handling of goods outside the standard sizes easy.
The basic principle of the HUSKi is known from logistics solutions for standardized pallet sizes and has been newly implemented here on a scalable platform with payloads of up to 1,500 kg. The contactless sensor system detects the distance as well as the angle of the HUSKi with respect to the transfer station. Interfaces monitor the correctness of the approached position and exclude incorrect delivery. The newly implemented coupling to the control panel on the towing vehicle allows efficient work. Ground markings and an optical laser cross from the towing vehicle also facilitate safe and fast positioning of the tugger train.
The technical implementation of the HUSKi appears in excellent execution. With robustly designed mechanical components, such as roller conveyor, frame and chassis, a long service life can be expected. The functionality is intuitively easy to follow, so that the operator can use the HUSKi without a long training period.
