The ETV 214i is designed for efficient storage and retrieval in warehouses with stacking heights of up to 10.5 metres. It is also used for internal pallet handling. In many warehouse environments, it is organisationally unavoidable for the driver to leave the truck each time a pallet is moved in order to record the goods manually or using an electronic scanner. This is where the innovative reach truck offers a decisive ergonomic advantage: instead of one or two high steps, there is only one low step for getting in and out of the truck.
The compact dimensions of the ETV 214i allow optimum use of the warehouse space with aisle widths from 2,685 mm. Other benefits include the low location of the battery modules. The unique design provides excellent visibility of the mast and load, while slim overhead guard rails provide almost unobstructed all-round visibility. This effectively prevents unintentional collisions and damage to warehouse equipment or goods, which can easily occur in confined warehouse areas.
The high volume of traffic in the warehouse not only requires optimum visibility for the driver, but also for the truck itself. This is ensured by the optional SmartStripe LED light strip with daytime running light, brake light and direction indicator.
More spacious, safer and highly efficient. The new reach truck series impresses with all-round improved ergonomics. The ETV 214i features a 10 cm lowered entrance for comfortable and injury-free entry and exit, a spacious driver’s seat with plenty of legroom, perfect all-round visibility and an optimum view of the ground level and load thanks to space-saving lithium-ion battery modules.
Despite its compact dimensions, the agile reach truck impresses with its clever weight distribution and high residual capacities. The optional SmartStripe LED light bar with daytime running lights, brake lights and direction indicators provides additional safety. The step-off-warning warns the operator and those around them, if they exit the truck too early while it is still rolling, thereby reducing the risk of injury to the operator. The standard lithium-ion battery features fast and intermediate charging. With a built-in 35A charger, it can be easily recharged at any 230V socket, even overnight and without an external stationary charger.
All in all, the Jungheinrich ETV 214i is the perfect reach truck for all customers who are looking for an economic yet powerful reach truck with a lithium-ion battery and all the associated benefits.
The Jungheinrich ETV 214i is a win in several respects: In terms of price, it differs only slightly from a vehicle with a lead-acid battery. And yet it offers all the advantages of a lithium-ion truck: no battery change or maintenance for the battery, intermediate charging capability, dielectric strength, long service life with many charging cycles – the reach truck combines highest quality and flexibility with economical benefits.
The ETV 2i series has been designed with cost and energy efficiency in mind and is aimed primarily at warehouse operators who value quality, robustness and flexibility, and who appreciate a truck that can be used according to the density of its use, thus conserving energy resources in the warehouse.
The ETV 214i appeals to a wide target group with a wide range of customisation options. Lift heights of up to 10,700 mm, two battery capacities, numerous assistance systems, mast- and forktilt masts, various attachments and comfort options make it suitable for all warehouse applications.
The use of radio data terminals and integration into a fleet management system is just as possible as working in a cold store at temperatures as low as -28 °C.
The market volume for reach trucks in Europe is around 30,000 trucks per year, 70 % of which are in the 1.4 to 1.6 load capacity class, where the ETV 214i is available.
With the ETV 214i, Jungheinrich has created a truck for light to medium-duty applications that not only impresses with improved ergonomics, but is also particularly economical. In daily operation, the customer benefits from a wide range of advantages:

Jungheinrich analyzed more than 14,000 FMS (Fleet Management System) data sets. The results revealed, among other things, that half of all operations do not require maximum performance or particularly long operating times. The new ETV 2i series meets the market demand for economically efficient reach trucks with strong performance.
At first glance, the newly designed truck closely resembles the current ETV 216i model with an integrated lithium-ion battery. However, the differences quickly become apparent. The new truck features a cabin floor that is 230 mm lower, along with a correspondingly lower seat height. With an entry height of just 420 mm, getting into the cabin is particularly easy, eliminating the need for an additional step. The lower design is especially beneficial in this market segment, where drivers frequently enter and exit the truck, as highlighted by the FMS analysis.
The reduced height is primarily due to the smaller 100 mm drive wheel, which is paired with a slightly lighter drive motor. Together with the newly configured lithium-ion modules, this ensures a low, spacious floor free of obstructions, providing ample space inside the cabin.
Despite the lower seat position, visibility of the surroundings and load arms remains excellent. This is largely due to the low chassis edges and the air-suspended seat, which allows the driver to sit up to 40 mm higher without sacrificing comfort. Jungheinrich also offers optional, easily mountable yellow protective covers for the load wheels. These not only protect the wheels but also provide a strong contrast, making the load arms more visible. The panoramic roof has been widened slightly, improving the upward view.
Another highlight of the new ETV 2i series is the LED lighting system mounted on the cabin roof. It features bright white daytime running lights that enhance the vehicle’s visibility. The lights flash orange when turning and glow red when braking.
The steering console is adjustable in depth as standard and can optionally be adjusted in height. The steering wheel remains unchanged, as does the 180/360-degree steering system and Jungheinrich’s long-proven, highly predictable steering behavior for reach trucks. A new addition is the improved storage compartment under the armrest, which now securely holds a standard A4 notepad or clipboard without tipping. Additionally, the shoulder guard has been enhanced for increased safety.
A new display provides the driver with clearer, full-color information, including lift height and weight indicators. The system also features a digital load diagram that warns of fork overload.
In the IFOY test, the ETV 214i performed identically to the existing ETV series in the “Efficiency” version. The results were above average compared to the entire reach truck segment. The test also showed that the lower seating position reduces driver movement, which is seen as an additional benefit.
With its 230 Ah lithium-ion module, the test truck achieved a practical operating time of nearly five hours. An optional module with twice the capacity and double the runtime is also available. The integrated 230V charger makes opportunity charging particularly easy.
With the new ETV 214i/216i series, Jungheinrich has redefined the standard for reach trucks. In addition to high performance and efficient operation, the ETV 214i offers a range of attractive advantages. The low floor height makes the vehicle highly accessible and provides the driver with all the benefits of outstanding ergonomics. Despite the lower seating position, all-around visibility remains excellent.

Through a bold step towards optimizing the device´s dimensioning, an exemplary implementation has been achieved. A targeted analysis of operational data from numerous customers showed that the performance parameters of previous models were not always fully utilized.
As a result, Jungheinrich demonstrates with the ETV 214i that a reduced dimensioning of key components, while maintaining the same functionality, is sufficient to significantly increase efficiency. The result is a new benchmark in terms of ergonomics, with a uniquely comfortable entry height that stands out in the market. Additionally, the new approach leads to improved visibility and a more spacious operator compartment with more adjustability for the controls. In terms of processing and functionality, the ETV 214i continues to impress with its high quality standard.
The ETV 214i marks the first time a new level of ergonomics has been achieved in this performance class of reach trucks. This was made possible, in part, by a more compact design of the drive motor, drive wheel, and battery. However, this downsizing was not done arbitrarily but based on a systematic analysis of operational data. The resulting higher utilization of the components offers a better cost-benefit ratio, thus contributing to sustainability and resource conservation.
The reduced battery capacity was sensibly implemented by Jungheinrich using two rather than three battery modules, without the need to develop a completely new solution. Simply integrating the battery creates much more design freedom, leading to a noticeable improvement in ergonomics. This includes a low entry height, better all-around visibility, and a more spacious work environment for the operator. The compelling overall concept is further enhanced by the innovative “SmartStripe” lighting system for direction recognition.
The following key aspects are seen as providing direct benefits to customers. The more compact dimensions of the truck noticeably improve the field of view and ergonomics, giving the operator of the ETV 214i more space and comfort. These design advantages, combined with additional features like the exit warning and the new LED concept, increase safety for both the operator and their work environment.
Another key benefit lies in the truck´s high efficiency. This improves the cost-benefit ratio, enabling more economical operations with the same load capacity.
Reach trucks have been a central part of internal warehouse operations for many years, playing a crucial role in the storage and retrieval of goods. The performance and safe handling of these devices are key factors in determining the throughput per unit of time.
An evolution in reach trucks is therefore highly relevant to the market, as these devices are used across a wide range of industries. At the same time, the importance of the efficiency of logistics processes is steadily increasing, and the ETV 214i contributes to this area.
A successful innovation in terms of safety, ergonomics, and sustainability. The ETV 214i rightly stands at the top in the close race for the IFOY AWARD.
